Young, Strong, Holy: A New Pope

Young, Strong, Holy: A New Pope

An excellent article which clearly acknowledges the huge scandals facing the Church today, the truly conservative nature of Catholic Church doctrine, and yet remains sympathetic to Pope Benedict and objective in its evaluation of his leadership.  Pope Benedict XVI resigned amidst the eruption of yet a new, and even more graphic, scandal, the resignation of the Cardinal Keith O'Brien amidst allegations that he had homosexual relations with four priests, one of who has now left the cloth.  The evidence that sexual scandals not only exist among the priests themselves, but also extend into the upper levels of the Church must have been quite a blow to the aging pontiff.  No wonder he hopes his successor will be a man who is young, strong, and holy.  If the Church is to be saved, along with all its historical and conservative beliefs, it will have to headed by someone with a clear vision and conscience.
